to safely and effectively reduce aflatoxin contamination of

Charlie
Rose, Chairman
of the Board: Graduated from the University of North
Carolina School of Law in 1964, Rose was admitted to the bar
and began his practice with the law firm of former governor Terry
Sanford in Raleigh, North Carolina. From 1968 to 1972, he served
as Chief District Court Prosecutor of the 12th Judicial District
of North Carolina. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives
in 1972, Rose was subsequently re-elected eleven times, retiring
in 1996. Chairman of many of the Agriculture Sub-Committees,
Rose was a member of the House Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary
Assembly, Brussels, Belgium, serving as President in 1991 and
1992.
Since
retiring from Congress, he and wife, Stacye, have built a successful
consulting business specializing in agriculture-related business.
Rose has served as President of Rose & Hefner Consulting Company
since it’s inception in 1997.
Alvin
Jones, Chief
Executive Officer:
Born and raised in the middle of the peanut belt, Cuthbert, Georgia,
Jones has an extensive background in the peanut industry. While
numerous relatives were career peanut growers, Jones became a
minority partner and buying-point manager with Sammons Peanut
Company in Shellman, Georgia in 1982. He and his cousin, John “Sonny” Sammons
built the company into a multi-location facility with buying
points located in Shellman, Cuthbert and Sasser. The expansion
also included processing farmer-stock peanuts, storage, seed
shelling and trucking. During the mid-eighties, Sammons Peanut
Company became the largest independent buyer of peanuts for Cargill
in the state of Georgia. The company was sold to McCleskey Mills
in 1989.
Prior
to his entry into the peanut buying business, Jones spent twelve
years in the public relations department of NASCAR’s sister
company, International Speedway Corporation. During this time,
he assisted Linn Hendershot in developing the NASCAR licensing
arm.
In
addition to his current position with Circle One Global, Inc.,
he continues to serve as Managing General Partner of Signabrands,
LLC, located in Shellman, Georgia. The company specializes in developing
licensing programs for consumer products and NASCAR teams and drivers.
Danny
L. Gay, Sr., President, Domestic
Sales: A native of southwest Georgia, Danny has
long been active in
the peanut industry. He is past president of the National Peanut
Buyers Association and is the current president of the National
Peanut Buying Political Action Committee. Currently a resident
of Fort Gaines, Georgia, he operates the Riverside Peanut Company
and Clay Farm Products, a farm supply dealership he has owned
since 1981.
Upon
completion of his studies at Georgia State University in 1967,
Gay became active in the insurance industry, managing the Atlanta
and Lower Alabama-Florida Panhandle Districts for Keuper Insurance
Companies. He opened his own agency, Dan L. Gay & Associates
in 1978 and returned to Fort Gaines in 1980 where he also has been
active in real estate development and construction. He served as
Clay County, Georgia Chief Magistrate from 1980 to 1986 and as
Clay County Commissioner from 1986 to 1990.
Robert
Jones, President, International
Sales. Originally
from southwest Georgia, Robert has lived and worked near the
Atlanta, Ga area since 1970. His background includes managment,
sales and marketing, including importing manufactured goods for
sale in the United States. In addition, Robert lead a world reknown
restoration project from 1979-82.
Ron
Teunis, Executive
Vice President, Planning and Development: Formerly
a deputy manager of community relations for the Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory, Livermore, California, Teunis has served
as a consultant and government relations’ manager for Circle
One Global, Inc. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan where
he attended public schools, and after service with the U.S. Army,
1952 to 1955. He majored in journalism at the University of Michigan.
Teunis
spent eighteen years as a newspaper reporter including the assignment
of State-house bureau chief in Trenton, N.J. for the Philadelphia
Evening Bulletin. Turning to public relations in 1975, he served
with numerous policy groups and as a political consultant for Congressional
and statewide campaigns. He joined the University of California
in 1979 and took early retirement from the university and the U.S.
Department of Energy in 1994.
Since
his retirement, Teunis has worked in governmental relations and
pursued postgraduate work in political science at the University
of South Florida. He is a member of the academic Honorary Society
Phi Kappa Phi.
